The FCINY has grown from a residency program to an arts organization commissioning large-scale projects and events that foster critical dialogue. Through its residencies and projects, the Institute is committed to advancing artist-led and customized projects across multiple disciplines, and to creating free and accessible programming for diverse audiences.

Sanni Wessman

Residency in NYC: May 3 - June 30, 2023

Sanni Wessman is an award-winning independent illustrator and graphic designer based in Helsinki, Finland. She has graduated from Aalto University and did her exchange studies at School of Visual Arts in New York. During her career Sanni has gained experience both as a freelancer and as a graphic designer in an advertising agency.

Sanni specializes in character illustrations, bright color palettes and playful atmosphere. Her main aim is to bring a bit more joy and kindness to the world with her colorful work.

Hanna Anonen

Residency in NYC: May 2 - June 30, 2022

Hanna Anonen was selected in collaboration with The Finnish Cultural Institute in New York to be the first Finnish residency to experience the IC + WD International Residency.

Hanna Anonen is a versatile designer whose portfolio covers a wide range from spatial and graphic design to interior decoration products, such as furniture and smaller items.

Her work is reinventing the image of Finnish modern design and has received international attention. Hanna Anonen’s style is bold and unique, her pieces are characterized by bright colors, unexpected ideas and playfulness.
