International Residency
As “French New Yorkers” and since co-founding WantedDesign in 2011, Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat have always been passionate about initiating transatlantic collaborations. WantedDesign has been constantly working with many international, cultural and trade organizations to build bridges, help international designers and companies better understand the US design landscape, develop collaborations, and long-lasting relationships.
WantedDesign is a platform dedicated to fostering the international design community and building a large and lasting design network through the development of trade events, cultural exhibitions, schools programs, among others.
Industry City has been home to the WantedDesign organization since 2014. They are now partnering to launch a new design residencies program in the heart of what became the most creative, dynamic, and diverse design hub in New York.

With the guidance of the WantedDesign team and a workspace on Camp David part of the Industry City campus, the IC + WantedDesign International Residency program will offer these residents a chance to immerse themselves in this creative community to build their network, take inspiration from New York City, and nurture and prepare for new projects.
WantedDesign is partnering with New York-based International cultural organizations to support the program and invite designers from different countries to benefit from this residency in the years to come.

Lizan Freijsen
In loving memory of Lizan:
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the sudden passing of the incredibly talented textile designer, Lizan Freijsen.
We were eagerly anticipating her arrival as our resident in New York the third week of February and excited to witness the magic she would bring to our community. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her artistic spirit will forever linger in the threads of her remarkable work.
Lizan dedicated her studio to creating tactile work based on the process of hand-tufting and inspired by fungi and microbes.
Our thoughts go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.
May her artistic legacy live on, and may we remember Lizan for the beautiful soul she was and the beauty she created.

Camp David
Camp David, partner of the IC + WantedDesign International Residency program, was founded with the mission to rethink what a co-working space should be: a mindfully-designed, collaborative environment for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small businesses. Every inch of this space has been carefully considered to provide the highest level of comfort and efficiency in the workplace.
Our residents get to call Camp David their office and/or studio throughout their 2-month stay.
